Gyde Shepherd, Communications

Gyde (“Jide”) Shepherd is a photographer, videographer and communications specialist who grew up in Ottawa.

For the past three years, Gyde has worked with several Yukon First Nations on a number of video, photography and media training projects. He has collaborated with Thomas Shepherd and Marilyn Jensen on community development and lateral kindness initiatives. Before that, Gyde spent a year working with the Yukon NDP Caucus as a writer and communications specialist.

Gyde believes that video and other digital media tools can be used in positive and creative ways to benefit communities, wildlife and the environment. He enjoys being out on the land and learning from the perspectives of First Nations people in Yukon and across Canada.
