Consultation with Former Students of the Choutla
Residential School
2016
CLIENTCarcross/Tagish First Nation

The Choutla Residential School was located in Carcross, Yukon, and was in operation from 1903 to 1969. Children from all across the Yukon, BC, and NWT attended the school, which was operated by the Anglican Church. C/TFN is in the process of cleaning up and reclaiming the site of the school, which was torn down in the 1980s.

As part of this process, C/TFN hosted a one-day consultation with former students of the school, and their family members. Thomas co-facilitated the consultation with Jeanie Dendys. The event planning and coordination was conducted by Katie Johnson. The pin pictured at left was created by Myra Iles for all those who attended the event.
